Sluban Metropolis: a city that grows with every building set
Author: Sluban HračkyPublished:
One bus becomes a stop, a street and eventually a whole city. Sluban Metropolis brings buildings, transport, services and characters into a world that can keep developing after the instructions are finished.
Sluban Metropolis is a city building series with buildings, vehicles, figures and street accessories. Selected sets have combinations explicitly illustrated by the manufacturer; other models complement the same play scene. Each required set is sold separately.

Dream City: the story above the clouds
The manufacturer introduces Dream City as a fictional metropolis on a flying island rich in superconducting minerals. Also called Skyfortress and Paradise, it provides a setting for transport, shopping, health care and everyday stories. This is fictional world building, rather than a technical description of the toys.
Curved glazing, elevated routes and distinctive buildings give the series a recognisable character. A builder can follow that setting or create an entirely different city, choosing which places its residents need.

Documented combinations and your own city scenes
There are three useful ways to extend a model: place it in a shared scene, change the arrangement of a particular construction, or build a specific multi-set configuration shown by the manufacturer. These are different possibilities.
The table identifies documented combinations. It does not promise that every small shop slides into every large building or that all models use the same interchangeable room connection. Personal modifications depend on the actual parts and construction.

A station, vehicle showroom and shopping district
The catalogue labels B1262 + B1263 as a combined arrangement of the vehicle showroom and central station. Their elevated railway creates a transport hub above the street. Bus B1261 and the small vehicles B1260A–D can extend the surrounding city traffic.
The product illustration for department store B1268 also labels a combination with Hotel Crown B1267. Small shops B1265A–D add a florist, fast food, beverages and a hair salon; café B1266 creates another place to meet. These small businesses can form a street or complement a larger building.
An electric vehicle theme does not automatically mean an electrically powered toy. For example, B1261 is described with a mechanical pull-back drive. Check the actual model rather than assuming that every vehicle includes a motor or remote control.

An amusement park from B1283, B1285 and B1286
The manufacturer shows both B1283 + B1285 and the larger B1283 + B1285 + B1286 arrangement. The gateway, roller coaster and Ferris wheel therefore offer a clear route from one attraction to a larger park.
Small scenes B1329A–D provide a hot-dog stand, stage, swing and slide. They complement the visitors’ surroundings and stories; they are not presented as an additional universal structural connection. The complete park photograph shows several separately sold sets.

A botanical garden with several documented layouts
Greenhouse B1375, horticultural hall B1376 and small sets B1373A–D form another distinct neighbourhood. The catalogue shows B1375 + B1376, B1373A–D + B1376 and a larger scene using all six sets.
Transparent curved roof pieces and plant displays give the garden a different role from transport or rescue scenes. Builders can plan visitor paths, seating, refreshments and the relationship between the individual garden areas.

Health care, public services and the roads between them
Hospital B1216, mobile nursing vehicle B1215 and ambulance set B1213 introduce health care. The manufacturer illustrates alternative arrangements and selected equipment moving between B1215 and B1216. Veterinary sets B1212A–D add animal care.
Police models range from B1217A–D patrols to B1218, command vehicle B1219 and station B1220. Rescue sets B1287 and B1288, truck B1289 and delivery service B1290 provide more roles in the city. Newer machinery B1392, B1393 and B1395, sports cars B1505A–D and the rocket-shaped Starship City Skyline B1396 expand the setting.
Road set B1327 provides street and base plates with accessories. The supplied specifications list 70 pieces, four square plates and four smaller rectangular plates. The catalogue shows several road layouts. Its large city illustration is inspiration from several sets, not the contents of one B1327 box.

How to build a city gradually
Start with a theme the builder wants to revisit. Add one service, vehicle or piece of infrastructure with a clear role before expanding the whole layout. Leave room for traffic, figures and the unfinished model.
Select exact codes, including their final letters. A variant such as B1265A is one model, not all four shops. Separate boxes do not necessarily share one combined instruction booklet. Check the age recommendation and contents of each set; many models are labelled 6+, while the current information for B1396 states 8+.
Planning routes, estimating space and dividing tasks are practical activities that connect with the Sluban STEAM article. Their value depends on how people build and play, rather than on a guaranteed learning outcome.

Frequently asked questions
Can I build a whole city with Metropolis?
Yes, by bringing together several separately sold buildings, transport models, services, park scenes and roads. You choose the size and layout.
Which models make the amusement park?
The manufacturer illustrates B1283 + B1285 + B1286. Small B1329A–D scenes can complement its surroundings.
Does every small shop fit inside every building?
No universal fitting system is documented. Distinguish specific illustrated combinations from shared play scenes and personal rebuilds.
Which codes identify the small Metropolis shops?
The four small shops are M38-B1265A, M38-B1265B, M38-B1265C and M38-B1265D. They are separate variants: a florist, fast food shop, drinks shop and hair salon.
